want more on my authors.

anyone know any website similar to imdb but for authors? you know, with their history - personal and professional - and little tid-bits about their lives.
example: i just read Riding Towards Everywhere by William T. Vollmann - and the whole time i kept thinking about who this guy is, how he has time to ride around on trains, how old he is, etc. etc.
anyone know anything like that - that’s not wikipedia (because sometimes it doesn’t have too much)? or do authors generally get to stay kind of under the radar?
