i was there when this was filmed and yet, somehow, it looks scarier in this trailer.

heroes for autism is a great event this weekend and you can still get tickets.

go to heroesforautism.com !
been a while since i did a list. i blame filming, general life things, and my dog for being so entertaining and distracting.
yeah yeah yeahs – it’s blitz! i’m a huge fan of the yeah yeah yeahs and i love this album. i was a little late getting it but it’s definitely worth listening to. and i love the video below. there’s something very humanizing about it – like maybe you could go hang out with them later. plus, karen o is a total badass.
may – thank you so much to lis fies for recommending this to me! i’ve been on horror kick lately trying to catch up on anything i haven’t seen and i don’t know how i missed this movie. it’s truly gruesome and really spectacular. angela bettis just plain rules and anna faris does a great job as well.

the umbrella academy by gerard way and gabriel ba – this comic is definitely worth picking up. i just read the first trade and it’s unlike anything else out there. i love a dysfunctional family but combine it with crazy super powers and i love it even more. and james jean who i am a fan of from fables draws the coverart. here’s a link to the fansite that is kinda cool.

the hyperion cantos series by dan simmons – i wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who fears science fiction in any way. but if you like science fiction and haven’t read it, you are behind (like me until a few weeks ago). it’s a series of books that came out in the 90s and i read that simmons is working on another. i’ve technically only read the first two of the series but they are amazing and impossible to put down. simmons creates a whole world that you’ll think about even when you’re not reading.
if you don’t know cathy baron, you should start by looking at her recent krump videos. only if you like laughing. and you should follow her on twitter. she is the genius behind this video. also have to give credit to @smackmeister for recording and the naturally talented and funny @lkr (of roeder studios) and melissa chu (who has a private twitter so don’t bother).
below is the latest incarnation of the cathy baron world that i participated.

below is a fundraising event for an amazing actress i know, Chauntal. i recently watched her work in the indie horror, The Commune. below was posted on Kid Sis in Hollywood by Lis Fies.
Dear Friends,
We are writing to invite you to the first ever Ken Paves Salon-Beverly Hills day-long fundraising events. A very close friend to the salon, Chauntal Lewis, was involved in car crash leaving her with a need to purchase a prosthesis. Chauntal is the sister to our loved stylist, Riawna. In an effort to raise money to aid Chauntal in purchasing the prosthetic limb, we are offering our services for discounted prices ranging from 35-60 percent less than regular prices. Every dollar that we collect on these days will go towards helping Chauntal. Below you will find information on the time, location, rsvp contact, and the prices for the services we will offer. If you cannot make it we would greatly appreciate any donations and feel free to tell your friends and/or colleagues about this event.
Thank You!!
